The ‘Creative group’ at Brookside has started a Cookery club which will run once a month. On the 28th February 2019, the cookery club was started by enthusiastic young people who were keen to prepare a vegan snack. They chose to prepare ‘Vegan marinated tofu and chickpea wraps’, which was accompanied by houmous, pitta bread and fruit juices.
The young people were involved throughout the process from sourcing the food to serving it on the table. They were involved in researching the recipe, preparing a shopping list, accompanying the staff to a local supermarket and finally working brilliantly as a team to show their culinary skills in the kitchen. Once the afternoon snack was prepared, the young people and staff involved sat down and enjoyed eating together!
